National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is a selective organization based upon outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. All sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have completed at least one full semester at Bowdon High School and have met the academic standard of at least a 3.5 GPA in core content and foreign language classes and a 3.75 or better overall GPA are invited to become members. Membership is granted with a majority vote of the Faculty Council. A student who falls below the academic standard is placed on probation for the following semester. If a student fails to raise their GPA to the standard after a probation period of one semester, the student will have their membership discontinued.
